tinygent is a Node.js npm AI agent CLI for Codex-backed multi-agent workflows, reusable agent sessions, identity files, tool definitions, and command-line automation.
AI agent workflows needed a smaller, scriptable interface that could run repeatable Codex-backed tasks without forcing every project to carry a heavy orchestration layer.
The system had to support reusable agent identities, custom tool instructions, persistent sessions, and simple command-line ergonomics while remaining flexible enough for publishing, research, ingestion, and automation jobs.
We built tinygent as an npm-distributed Node.js CLI that can define AI agent identities, attach tool context, send prompts through reusable sessions, and integrate agent runs into broader Node.js and shell workflows.
The result is a lightweight multi-agent runner that lets projects compose focused AI workers for editorial, ingestion, analysis, research, and automation tasks while keeping configuration local and transparent.
